What are some real-world examples of event cancellation protection?
06.08.2016 GLASGOW, UK
The Met Office issued a late-night weather warning that gale force winds of up to 60mph were expected in Glasgow. A festival, an open-air gig and an evening concert due to take place on the next day around the area had to subsequently be cancelled due to safety concerns despite the open-air gig and concert show being sold out. The event organisers had to reschedule the events and had to refund customers who couldn’t attend the reorganised date.
23.01.2016 NEW YORK, USA
After a blizzard affecting much of the USA’s east coast, the government issued a ban on travel and the suspension of some public transportation in the city. Naturally, the Broadway League had to declare all Saturday shows cancelled.
04.07.2016 LEWES, UK
A live music festival which was set to take place over the weekend has had to be cancelled at short notice due to flooding. The event organisers were unable to rearrange the event and decided to refund all ticket sales including booking fees.
